Wordless Wednesday

(This one needs words of explanation...)

My dad has always had a change jar tucked into some part of his closet or dresser. When I was a little kid I would sometimes (not a lot) sneak in and get some quarters. *I'm sure I learned how to do this from my older siblings. Hee! Hee! As I (we) grew older a quarter here and a quarter there, to get gas or some fast food.

Now, he will at random bring out this jar to whoever is there...if you count it you get it. Over Christmas, I was the lucky recipient of the ever coveted glass jar, the same glass jar from 30+ years back. I took a few minutes to call my sister and jingle the jar to the base of the phone. Squealing with delight I announced the passing of the jar. Laughter on both ends of the phone.

Oh, how I love that jar. Two hours and some really dirty fingers (I had no idea how dirty money is...) I was the proud owner of $118.00. Thanks PaPa!!!!

Love this! And that's a ton of change :) I have a giant plastic coke bottle I keep change in and I just bequeathed it to my son.

My hubster has already started doing something like this with our son. Alex gets his piggy bank, and they sit together counting money from our coffee can. :) Then they wash their hands like crazy. lol

How nostalgic your money jar is.

Pretty good haul too.

Very cool. I used to save change, but now I always seem to spend it instead.

That's a great story! I used to sneak quarters out of my Dads change jar also. His jar was a shoebox though!

How totally excellent! We save our change all year -- selfish people we are, keeping it for ourselves -- and use it for Christmas money at the end of the year. (Coinstar now charges no fee if you take the money in credit from places like Amazon.) $600 each year. Cool.

We keep a old coffee tin and fill it up with change, but we always take it to coinstar LOL. what a great idea to save it and give it to the kids like that

I used to sneak from my dad's quarters...now me and the kids sneak from the hubbies. Too bad quarters don't go as far as they used to... : (

Thanks for coming by my WW.

That is awesome! My hubby is the same way. He throws his pocket full of change at the end of the day into an old water jug :)

WOW - that's A LOT of change!!!

My dad always placed his coins on a coffee table at home at the end of his workday and I would oblige by making sure the little pile dissapeared each night before bed.
